How Dean Corll was shot is described by a witness
HOUSTON A Elmer Wayne Henley fired five or six shots into Dean Corll as Corll chanted. "Kill me, Wayne, Kill me." a mass murders case witness testified yesterday.
Timothy Kerley, 20, told of Corll's death in a pretrial hearing for Henley, charged ir 6 of the 27 murders of teen-age youths.
The testimony about the shooting came over repeated objections from defense lawyer Will Gray.
Police say Corll, 33, was the mastermind of a homosexual murder-torture ring which killed the 27 victims over a three-year period.
Henley, 17, and David O.
Brooks, 18, procured young boys-mostly their friendsfor Corll, police said.
Kerley and Rhonda Wil→ liams, 15. were with Henley. the morning of Aug. 8, 1973 when Henley shot and killed Corll, a death later ruled self-defense.
Miss Williams also was called to testify yesterday, but her testimony was heard in the chambers of District Court Judge Wil liam Hatten "to spare her. from public embarrass ment." Gray said.
Kerley said that between 1 and 2 a.m. that morning he, Miss Williams and Henley had been sniffing acrylic paint, "drinking beer and white lightning."
